The importance of IP Protection in business organizations

October 21, 2014

All business organizations use some types of intellectual property such as trademarks, patents, trade secrets, know-how and other forms of proprietary “secret sauce”.

At one end of the spectrum are the high tech companies whose life blood is proprietary technology. Next on the spectrum are established, profitable businesses whose success is based on proprietary business practices, manufacturing and product technology, and valuable customer and vendor information that should be identified and protected.

It may be time for a check up on your operations to make sure your intellectual property has been identified and protected through a basic review of some key areas. This would include a review of such topics such as—

  • Company policy and procedures
  • Security systems for proprietary operations
  • Employee, vendor and customer agreements for development and use of proprietary technology, information
  • Technology, trade secret, know–how identification and protection

At RCO Law we can help you protect your business.
