Mathew D. Budds is an associate attorney with Robison, Curphey & O’Connell and practices in the areas of Civil Litigation,
Business Law, Bankruptcy & Creditors' Rights, and Estate
Litigation, Administration and Planning. Matt is a resident of the City of Monroe and currently serves on the City of Monroe’s Ethics Committee.
Matt earned his Juris Doctor degree (with high honors) from the University of Toledo College of Law. While at the College of Law, Matt served as the Executive Editor for The University of Toledo Law Review and published “No Canada: Analyzing Efforts to Keep Canadian Waste in Its Home and Native Land,” 39 U. Tol. L. Rev. 693 (2008). Matt earned his undergraduate degree (with distinction) from the University of Michigan.
PRACTICE DETAILS
Civil Litigation. Matt counsels businesses and individuals involved in litigation including real estate disputes, construction defect cases, commercial proceedings, and
other civil matters.
Business Law. Matt advises clients, including shareholders, directors, partners and owners on the formation, governance, and operation of their corporations, partnerships, limited liability companies, associations and other business entities.
Bankruptcy & Creditors' Rights. Matt represents creditors in collection, bankruptcy, and insolvency matters in both state and federal courts.
Estate Litigation, Administration
and Planning.
Matt represents clients, including fiduciaries and interested parties, involved in the administration of decedent’s estates including disputes regarding capacity, undue influence and appropriate distribution under estate planning documents.
Matt also assists clients with estate planning to ensure their property is distributed according to their wishes.
