Estate Planning Attorney Sarah Corney was a presenter on "Surviving the Sandwich Generation" a webinar held on February 23 hosted by the Ohio Women's Bar Association and the Toledo Women's Bar Association. There were 189 people attending this webinar which demonstrates the level of interest on this important topic.
Women are disproportionately burdened with caretaking. This webinar provided information on how to avoid or mitigate some of the challenges faced by the Sandwich Generation. With an increasingly elderly population on one end of the spectrum and a generation of children on the other women, ages 40 to 59 years, are sandwiched in the middle with responsibilities for their parents’ and their children’s well-being.
Between 2016 and 2060, it’s expected that the number of Americans ages 65 and older will increase by 92%. As a result women will continue to experience financial, domestic, and emotional dependencies from family members.
Joining Sarah on the webinar were Shennan Harris, Senior Associate, Squire Patton Boggs; Susan DiMickele, Esq., Senior Services and General Counsel, National Church Residences; and Susan Choe, Executive Director, Ohio Legal Help.
